Salary Increase for Au Pairs
Published by spetrosky, under Au Pairs, Governmental Interests, Program Info. No Comments.
Effective next Friday, July 24th, the stipend will be $195.75.
We say the “week of July 24th” to make sure everyone is covered, so really any pay day next week should be at the new rate.
This is the third and final stage of the scheduled stipend increase. The stipend is set by the Federal government and is directly linked to the federal minimum wage. In the spring of 2007 a three step minimum wage was enacted, and this is the last stage of this planned increase.

My Job as an LCC
Published by spetrosky, under Program Info. No Comments.
The Department of State and Cultural Care Au Pair have some specific guidelines that LCCs must follow. Here is what is expected at a minimum. Thanks for helping me do my job by coming to the monthly meetings and maintaining the contact that is expected and required of us.
An LCC must maintain on-going personal contact with current au pairs and host families within your assigned region for the duration of their program year. Support for au pairs consists of holding or coordinating 12 monthly meetings for the au pair group, 4 of which should be Continuing Education Program (CEP) meetings, in addition to the initial contact within the first 48 hours of each new au pair’s arrival to their host family. Support for families and au pairs includes an orientation meeting in person at their home, with their au pair, within the first two weeks after the au pair’s arrival; monthly personal contact with each family and an annual host family conference or event in accordance with the Regulations. In addition, during a transition or replacement situation, LCCs are expected to mediate or intervene between the host family and the au pair to try to resolve the area of conflict and are required to make twice-monthly contact for the first two months after a replacement or transition occurs.
